Jayme Gies is an accomplished dancer, choreographer, producer, director and teacher. She moved back to her native North Carolina in 2005 opening her dance studio; Southern Dance Explosion and has been raising the barre in Harnett and surrounding counties!
She is a native of North Carolina from Fayetteville; as a child dance was not all she enjoyed, she got involved in musical theatre performing with various theatres in Fayetteville (Cape Fear Regional, Bordeaux Dinner Theater and Fort Bragg Playhouse). Musicals such as “The Sound of Music”, “West Side Story”, “Kismet”, “Annie”, Fiddler on the Roof”, “Babes in Toyland” “A Christmas Carol”, “42nd Street”, “No, No Nanette” , “Carousel”, “Guys and Dolls” and “The Lion, the Witch and the Wardrobe” She attended the NC School of the Arts in Winston Salem for two years; later moving to New York City her freshman year of high school.
Dancing on a full scholarship at Steps on Broadway in NYC she got her first taste of film and television with the 1980’s television series “Fame”, “Showtime at the Apollo” and various television commercials. During the summers she would leave the city doing summer stock in upstate NY, performing at theme parks or teaching at summer dance/theater camps for budding stars.
After graduating from high school she moved out to the west coast, where her dancing, choreography, producing and teaching have taken her around the globe to Japan, Argentina, Chile and Amsterdam She has performed at the “Billboard Awards” in Las Vegas dancing with Aerosmith and the Spice Girls, “Vegas Vacation” with Chevy Chase; she has toured the globe with RCA recording artist Kristine W. Her work was hand picked by Jerry Jones (owner of the Dallas Cowboys) to perform at Super Bowl XXX. She has choreographed for NBC, CBS, ABC and Disney television.
She has taught master classes and judged for numerous dance competitions; as well as been awarded for her outstanding choreography.
